STEPHENVILLE, TX - The Deer Channel is the world's first and only online provider of streaming audio and video of deer from the deer's point of view. Members can watch and listen to live deer from their perspective, accessible to a global audience.

Dr. James C. Kroll, Founder and Director of the Institute for White-tailed Deer Management and Research in Texas comments, "You can see potential for all sorts of great research with these cameras and microphones. Streaming broadcasts are scheduled to begin October 16th at an introductory subscription of $9.95 a month and an entire year's membership for just $64.95, with the first three days free with any plan.

There will also be daily and weekly pay-per-view edited highlights starting at less than a dollar per clip.

Based on a 1,500-acre ranch in north central Texas, it is the long-time dream of whitetail deer enthusiast Tom Brooks, the president and chief executive of Deer Channel Inc, a wildlife research organization dedicated to encouraging the management and conservation of deer. Noted wildlife biologist Dan Van Schaik leads the scientific enterprise and chief technologist Patrick Seaman, who helped launch Yahoo! Broadcast.com, heads the technology team.

DCI's mission is to create, distribute and market the worlds most respected, scientific, successful and entertaining "scientainment" wildlife programming presented on demand across multiple platforms.

"Back in 1999, we started kicking around ways that we could learn something more than what still deer photos or remote triggered video cameras provided," says Deer Channel president Tom Brooks. "It occurred to us that the best way to see and hear what deer see and hear would be to develop a proprietary, non-invasive audio/video camera system."

Today they have a patent pending wildlife camera system, with an entire working ranch committed to the study and conservation of deer, complete with an around the clock, fully staffed broadcast team and studio.

The online service uses multiple cameras in the field, including deer mounted cameras, mobile thermal image cameras, day/night pan-tilt-zoom tower cams, and field cameras, providing multiple streaming feeds and a daily programmed schedule, plus a fourth stream of edited highlights direct to members via broadband.

"Having a state-of-the-art video camera and microphone mounted on the head of a trophy whitetail is the closest thing yet to 'being' the animal," according to Gordon Whittington, editor of North American Whitetail, a magazine 'designed for the serious trophy hunter'.
