Fairfax, Virginia - The National Rifle Association's National Awards for the year 2005 were presented at a special ceremony on September 16 in Arlington, Virginia.

NRA President Sandy Froman presided. The NRA National Awards Program is offered as a part of NRA's fall Board of Directors meeting.

The NRA National Awards Program recognizes outstanding service of those who support the NRA in areas such as legislative affairs, club operations, youth programs, fundraising and others. Individuals and groups who are honored exemplify the diverse character of the Association. Winners might include a dedicated shooting coach running a youth program at his local club, a woman who works to bring shooting opportunities to other women, or a law enforcement officer protecting his community.

This year 16 awards were given. "It's important to recognize the people and organizations who have distinguished themselves through dedication and commitment to the NRA," said Sandy Froman. "These people have made a unique commitment to the gun-owning public across America and their willingness to give of themselves speaks tremendously of their character."
